Who is Financing Baker’s Campaign?
A quick review of the latest campaign reports (1/1/12 through 3/31/12) on the Lake County Supervisor of Election’s website shows that PACs, Lobbyists and “Special Interests” from outside Lake County are quickly jumping on board the local race for Lake County Property Appraiser on behalf of Carey Baker. Watch for more unfamiliar donor names on his future reports. By 3/31/12, about 38% of Baker’s contributors were from special interests…most with Tallahassee addresses.
Update: On Baker’s campaign report for the period 4/1/ – 7/6/2012 more than 48% of his campaign donations were from out of county contributors. Mostly from Tallahassee and PACs from around the state. We looked for his report for the period 7/7/ – 7/20/2012 but curiously it hadn’t been filed by the due date. Maybe he mailed it in, but considering he thinks everything should be done by computer, that seems unlikely. It must just be late. We expect him to have much more money from Tallahassee.
While you’re on the Supervisor of Election’s website looking at Baker’s contributors, check out Ed Havill’s reports, and you’ll see that the biggest donors to Ed Havill’s campaign are: Ed Havill, and other local residents and landowners. (and my sister and brother-in-law from California) I’ve never liked the fundraising part of campaigning and I don’t believe in badgering people or putting them on the spot. My supporters have stood by me through the years and I knew this would be an expensive campaign with the money flowing in from Tallahassee, so I decided to put my money into it as well.
What will Baker owe to all of his special interest friends if he becomes Property Appraiser? Do any of them have clients who own property in Lake County? Or something they would want him to spend taxpayer money on if he was elected?
He was a loyal “Warrior” for them in Tallahassee, and now he says he wants to be a “Warrior” for you? Is he being honest?
